ISTE Inspiration To Create 21st Century Global Learners!
I need help with registration, food, and transportation for the ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) conference in Chicago, Illinois
I have been teaching for 19 years, and have spent my career teaching 1st and 2nd grade.
I am passionate about integrating technology in the primary grades as it is crucial to creating 21st century, global citizens.
Our youngest learners have grown up with technology; it is what they know. It is my belief that they need to be provided with meaningful experiences that allow them to creatively and collaboratively show what they know, globally connect to the world outside the classroom, and to think critically and problem solve on a daily basis.
Last year I eagerly accepted the opportunity to begin working as a Digital Learning Specialist in my district which now gives me the privilege of working with all students, kindergarten through 5th grade, to help prepare our students for an ever-changing world. My students come from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds and attend the second smallest, rural school in our district.
My Project
I would love to be able to attend the ISTE conference (International Society for Technology in Education) in Chicago in June. It has long been a dream of mine to be able to attend the largest technology conference in the world!
As a Digital Learning Specialist for my district, ISTE would be an amazing opportunity for me to learn about the latest advances in education technology and will provide me with additional tools, strategies, and resources to help my students learn in the areas of computer science, financial literacy, math, science, and reading.
As Digital Learning Specialist, it is my job to stay abreast of these trends and to help teachers embed technology in meaningful and authentic ways into the curriculum. It is my hope to attend sessions that will enhance our financial literacy and coding curriculums as well as the core content areas. Not only will my students benefit from the knowledge that I will gain by attending this conference, but as a district technology trainer, this wealth of knowledge will also be shared with my district colleagues and peers.
