My Students

A healthy environment is necessary for a healthy society. Students should understand the importance of how their environment can impact upon their lives and that of the whole ecosystem.

I teach 8th grade General Science in a suburban middle school to my regular classes and an Earth Science Regents course to my advanced students.

I also teach an inclusion class with another teacher where there are special education students mixed with general education students.

My Project

The probe I am requesting can measure pH and temperature with the same sensor. The data can be downloaded onto the computer to show students real-time data as it is being collected. My students would be using these probes to conduct water quality studies in the classroom as well as conduct field studies at various locations around the county. We can examine how the pH and temperature affect water quality which has effects on our drinking water, reservoirs, and marine/freshwater life.

Introducing technology into the Science classroom is a must if students are to feel like real scientists in today's society.

Students will be able to see how water quality is important to the ecosystem and the impact on human society as a whole.
