My Project
It is fun and easy to incorporate other subjects into music class! When teaching rhythms, we often use math concepts. For example, we do music math where we add up the number of beats for different rhythms. Whenever we do this, my students ask, "Is this music or math?!".
This project will provide us with new manipulatives for hands on learning in music class.
The fraction tiles are going to be made into the different note values to help students visualize how many beats each note gets. Older students will also practice adding fractions together. Foam counters will be turned into different kinds of music dice for composing. Slime will be used to teach half notes, and the pebbles will be used to notate music! The books will give us even more ideas for using our new materials!
