This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
One of the most important life skills is reading. You need it across all subjects and in everyday life. Our school library is small and has many old and rundown books. Over time, I plan on creating a brand-new library with chapter books, picture books, and book club books. A place where children can pick books they're interested in and explore different genres. A place where they can find books that are at their reading level to read independently or with friends.
Children who value books are motivated to read on their own and will likely continue to practice independent reading throughout the rest of their lives.
We want to instill a love in reading in our children in order to improve vocabulary, language skills, writing skills, and analytical skills. We want to encourage them to be curious about a world beyond what they can see.
Reading is the key to lifelong learning. It is important to instill a love of reading at an early age to ensure lifelong learning to follow. Children who value books are motivated to read on their own and will likely continue to practice independent reading throughout the rest of their lives.
