The cost of a soil identification kit is $693, including shipping and <a target="new" href="http://www.donorschoose.org/html/fulfillment.htm" onclick="g_openWindow('http://www.donorschoose.org/html/fulfillment.htm', 300, 800, 'fulfillwindow');return false;">fulfillment</a>.
The natural curiosity of children opens the world up to them. In the science classroom that world can be broaden through hands-on activities. As part of the third grade science standards my students are required to classify soil types by their properties.
In order to do that we must have access to the specified types of soil and activities to discover the differences. Carolina Biological offers a wonderful hands-on kit that will help to accomplish the task.
While books can tell us the properties of each of these soil types, having this kit for my room would afford my students the opportunity to get their hands dirty and discover the differences for themselves.
