Can you imagine what it would be like to not be able to visualize places that you study about in school? Our students often do not get to have the life experiences that other students take for granted. They still come to school every day excited to learn.
Our students come from some of the toughest home environments in the inner city, and most start out well behind where they should be academically.
As the technology coach, it is my goal to give our students access to as much technology as possible. Our school works diligently to prepare them for today's world. Our students are creative, loving, silly, imaginative, wonderful scholars who deserve a chance to have the same opportunities as other students across the country and the world.
We want to visit Mesopotamia with our 6th Graders as they are learning about Ancient Egypt. We want to view the way blood flows through the body with our Science classes as they are learning. The ways to enhance our students learning through the use of these devices is limitless.
Our students will use these iPods with our Virtual Reality viewers to explore new and different places through Virtual Field Trips that they would not be able to experience otherwise.
We currently have the viewers but our students do not have devices that we can use to access them. Having access to consistent devices will greatly improve our students background knowledge, vocabulary, and will help bridge the gap of information.
