iPods Needed For Special Education Students

My students need 2 iPods, so teachers can record an audio version of the test so students can listen at their own pace.

My Students

My Special Education students need additional resources to keep them college ready. With tests on iPods, more students can stay in the class and not miss valuable team time.

My students are the definition of high needs.

In our school, 25% of our students are homeless and 80% receive free/reduced lunch. My students come from a variety of backgrounds. Some have grown up in the same traditionally African-American neighborhood as their grandparents, and haven't ventured much further than our city limits. Others are first or second generation, Spanish speaking, immigrants to our country. With our wide cultural range, we spend much of our time learning about each other and the characters we read in our texts. There's so much to share and learn just among ourselves.

My Project

With the iPods, students can stay in the classroom and not feel the stigma of small group testing. iPods allow more teacher movement and flexibility while giving students the ability to stop and start the test audio at their own pace. With changing state regulations, only certified teachers can proctor tests leaving us short handed during testing season. iPods will help fill that void during that hectic time.

While all our children have unique needs, our Special Educations kids could use the extra boost technology brings.

Our iPods will also allow students to be responsible for their own pacing and progress on their test. Our audio learners have much to gain with the iPods not only in testing season, but also from audio textbooks and content.
