My Students
Have you ever heard a story come alive because of how it was told?
The students read in literature circles, but many are bypassing their required reading because of their struggles with reading.
The students live in a rural area and have varied interests. Many students struggle with reading and with technology waging a war on books, the use ipod Nanos will help the students not only with their reading skills, but with using technology. Additionally, this will allow me to deliver grade content knowledge to all students.
My Project
iPod children will help students with this issue and allow students to read together in small groups. The Commission on Reading reports, "The single most important activity for building the knowledge required for eventual success in reading is reading aloud to children."ÂÂ Studies have shown that audio books help students expand their vocabulary and develop reading fluency because they can listen to books that would be difficult for them to read. I have read that in school districts that have students who struggle in reading and employ iPods as a reading tool have students' motivation for reading increase. I am hoping that with the use of the iPods, students will be able to have access to difficult material,thus challenging my students.
Your donation to this project will help these students reach levels in their reading which is not possible currently.
I am not able to read aloud to many small groups all at once, or even daily. The use of iPod Nanos will allow this to happen for the students, stretching and growing their reading abilities. Your donation will help these students grow as learners and enjoy reading in multiple ways!
