As of right now, our listening center involved audio tapes and books. The students in this day and age have no idea how to work tape players. If we could get a couple of iPod touch's, the students would get to enjoy their listening center much more, instead of constant frustration with tape players
I work at a wonderful school.
Everyone is always willing to help one another out. I teach first grade, and it is one of the most amazing experiences to see the students from August to May. They come to first grade completely dependent on their parents and their teachers, and they leave first grade independent. They are amazing workers and their passion for learning is remarkable!
My Project
I am requesting two iPod touch machines. They are amazing and they would be implemented in several ways in the classroom. First we would use them in our literacy workshop in our listening to reading center. Here it would be very easy for the students to turn right to the book they want to listen to and get started right away. I would also use them in our math workshop. There are several apps that can be downloaded on the iPod touch that involve counting games, addition games, etc. These would be great practice work for individuals who need the extra work or those who are already independent and need practice when they finish early.
This project would make such an amazing impact on our classroom.
Not only will these amazing little machines be fun, educational, and interactive for the student, it will help free me, the teacher, more so I can meet with more students during the day.
