My Students

Help bring our science classroom into the 21st century!

I teach an amazing group of African American and Latino students in a large urban high school in downtown Los Angeles.

My 10th grade students take Chemistry- a challenging feat! The area where my school is located is in a high poverty area and while the students don't have much, they do the best with what they have! There is no funds for extra materials this year.

My Project

An iPod touch and speaker docking station who have a profound influence on my daily classroom practice. This resource would allow me to play calming music at the beginning and end of class (which studies have shown improves learning)and during student activities. Also, the speakers on the docking station would allow me to show interactive videos using my existing projector to help my visual learners. Lastly, the video feature will allow me to record important lessons and lab activities for students who are absent so they do not fall behind.

I currently have no access to speakers in my classroom!

This really restricts my ability to play music and video in my classroom which I know will improve my students' learning. Thank you for playing a small part in helping my students and bringing my classroom into the 21st century!
