Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach an enthusiastic group of third through fifth graders who are each as unique as they are lovable. My students are eager to learn and grow. Their passion for learning comes out in so many ways, from sharing their opinions on our class read alouds to expressing their thoughts and feelings in their reflection journals. Although all my students have their own strengths and growth areas, we all particularly love our daily independent reading time where we turn on our twinkle lights, get cozy, and curl up with good book.
My students thrive in environments where they feel known, loved, and valued.
As a class we are striving to build that space for each other. My students come from many different backgrounds and have many different needs, but each day we are committed to coming together and supporting one another in our learning journey.
My Project
My classroom is composed of students in 3rd through 5th grades with a variety of interests and skill sets. No one curriculum or instructional approach can meet all their needs in one lesson. For this reason, much of our learning happens in stations. iPads open a world of opportunity to my students through apps designed to target specific learning needs and by giving them access to ebooks on topics beyond the scope of our classroom library.
Introducing iPads into my classroom will allow my students to take ownership of their learning and practice individually-targeted skills.
Through learning stations, all my students will have the opportunity to engage with the iPads daily and practice skills they've been learning in class in a fun and engaging way. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and have varying levels of access to technology outside of the classroom. A set of iPads for our classroom will allow all students, regardless of background, to begin preparing for technology-saturated world. Please help me support my students academically and spark their excitement about learning by providing access to a set of iPads for our classroom.
