My Students

My 6th grade science classroom in a beautiful public urban middle school, where students face many challenges before they even enter the classroom. Pelham Gardens Middle School enrolls 464 students in grades 6 – 8. The ethnic breakdown of the school is: 67% African American, 28% Latino/a, 3% Asian and 1% White. All students qualify for free or reduced lunch.

My students are excited to explore the beautiful world of science and to expand their capacity for critical thinking.

They take pride in their efforts and are willing to challenge their minds for the sake of learning and developing as scholars.

My Project

My students need a chance to use an iPad mini at school. Many of my students don't have access to technology at home and the technology that is currently at our school is limited. They'll be excited to use an iPad mini in science class. The iPad is very useful in the classroom. It can be used to differentiate learning for English Language Learners, students with learning disabilities, critical thinking, creating and editing books, creating and editing videos, creating music, and the list can go on and on!

My students will learn to use technology (iPad mini) while engaging and learning science content.

Research, remediation, enrichment would now be made so easy for my students. Access to science apps will increase students' problem solving and fact fluency will tremendously impact my students.
