This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever struggled to grasp a concept all your peers acquire easily? Do you learn differently than your friends? Teachers need to adjust their instruction to meet the needs of ALL learners, they just need the skills and resources necessary to do so.

My students are in an inner-city, the city with the highest poverty in the state.

They want to learn and want a safe place to do so. The majority of the kids are on free or reduced lunch and many don't have a place to call home. School is their sanctuary to have a caring adult and a safe environment to be with their friends. Neighborhood schools don't receive as much funding as our magnets do but my students have the same needs.

My Project

My students will use this resource to have access to apps and websites that match their personal need. Many of my students cannot focus on desktops that work half the time and often kick them out of the sites they need access to. Students will also be able to record themselves reading and listen back to critique themselves and determine next steps. The iPad will also be used to record the teacher so they too can reflect on their teaching and how they can better differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all their students.

This donation will empower the students who struggle daily by providing them with an outlet in which they can be successful and allowing them the skill set building the intrinsic motivation to do so.

They also will learn the life-long skills of reflection and personal goal setting through the process. It will also have a lasting difference on the teacher as it will better their instruction which will benefit all of their current and future students.
