Our school is filled with curious and diverse young learners who love to learn! As media coordinator, I have the privilege of teaching and building relationships with all 800 students at our school. My students come from various backgrounds with 100% being served free breakfast and 75% being served free or reduced lunch.
My students do not allow their challenges to deter them from exploring new ideas or learning new information.
Instead, their differences and diverse needs are embraced which has created an engaging, challenging, and welcoming learning environment within the media center.
My Project
My students LOVE to take photographs and videos with our well loved iPads. However, they really need access to tools and materials which will further develop their thinking and creativity while telling their stories.
We have decided that Legos would be the perfect tool since they allow for so much flexibility among our projects!
The Legos and base plates will allow students to create or recreate their own "movie sets" for their digital stories.
Digital stories are so beneficial to my students' learning as they require them to integrate knowledge from all subject areas in an active, creative, and fun way. In addition to content integration, students also must consider the points of views of others, which is an important literacy and life skill.
Please help us stretch our minds and creativity through our Lego Digital Story Telling Project!
