Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Incorporating educational technology inside the classroom at home has helped increase student engagement and participation in all schools with the help of one-to-one technology. For example, The International Journal of Educational Technology in Higher Education states, “One overarching theme is that most of the technologies we reviewed had a positive influence on multiple indicators of student engagement, which may lead to a larger return on investment in terms of learning outcomes.”
My students are now lucky enough to be assigned one-to-one devices (iPad) starting this month.
For most of them, this will be the first time they have ever been responsible for an iPad or any device for that matter. Most of them access their educational technology through their parent's cellphones when they are able to. By having a storage cabinet in the classroom and a charging station, my students will be able to learn the responsibility it takes to care for their own educational devices in the classroom and eventually at home. Accepting responsibility and being held accountable is something that my students will be working on while caring for their new devices. Having a place to store their iPads in the classroom will also be cost-effective and eco-friendly, as they will be able to access more educational tools online rather than through printouts.
By choosing to help my class manage and access their one-to-one devices, you will also be giving them a more equitable learning environment and access to the resources they will need to receive the education they deserve.
