My Students

My students have learning disabilities ranging from autism and attention-deficit disorder to dysgraphia, dyslexia and emotional disturbances. I love these kids and boy do they work hard. Almost without exception, they struggle on tests, written assignments of all kinds and frustrate and find it hard to connect with their peers.

The students I work with are the hardest workers I know and struggle daily with output and executive functioning skills.

Executive functions help you manage life tasks of all types. For example, executive functions let you organize a trip, a research project, or a paper for school. When kids struggle with poutput it is often diue to areas of deficit in one or more of these skills or

a written expression disability known as dysgraphis. Dysgraphia is a transcription disability, meaning that it is a writing disorder associated with impaired handwriting, orthographic coding (orthography, the storing process of written words and processing the letters in those words), and finger sequencing (the movement of muscles required to write).

Many of us were born with these skills in tack or learned them quiote easily, for my students each day to show their teachers how much they have learned!

My Project

These IPad's will allow my students to access work and be able to show their own work through speech to text applications available on the Ipad. These students have learning disabilities ranging from autism and attention-deficit disorder to dysgraphia, ADHD and emotional disturbances. I love these kids, but they can struggle to access the general education classroom. Almost without exception, they struggle on all written assignments, frustrate their teachers and find it hard to connect with their peers.

These Ipad applications such as Notability, WordQ, Prizmo, Grammarly, Siri will allow my students to use their Ipad directly within class to complete assignments and email them to their teachers instantly.

They will be able to scan a worksheet with Prizmo and have it directly read to them using text to speech and be able to email the assignment to their teacher. This lab of 5 will be used directly within the general education curriculum in order for my students to access the curriculum on an hourly and daily basis.
