Teaching two classes of 4th grade gifted students makes every day an exciting educational challenge for me.
These 45 fourth graders are always yearning to learn more and their hunger for knowledge is unlike any I have experienced before. I have never had such an inquisitive group of children so enthusiastically dedicated to the pursuit of education. Their inquisitive nature makes it a constant challenge to provide them with exceptional and authentic learning opportunities especially ones that include engaging in new age digital literacy.
My Project
Imagine a classroom where children can combine using the technology that they love with educational growth. That is the vision that I see when I picture my students using iPads to connect to class electronic discussion boards, use educational literacy apps, and research for the digital books that they will create using these iPads. Using the pen and paper of today to create their own authentic learning experiences and to challenge themselves. With these iPads my students will use programs like Kahoot and iBooks author to participate in online quizzes and discussions and to become authors using the technology of their time to enhance their writing.
Taking the focus away from the pressure of state reading and writing assessments, these iPads will bring creative inspiration to our classroom.
They will allow these talented 4th graders to enhance their educational experiences through a variety of apps and programs geared towards literacy and writing. With your help, the educational possibilities are endless!
