Help me give my students iPads so that they can continue to peruse their interests in coding, robotics, 3D printing, and game design. Students are eager to create but do not have the technology to complete their projects.
Despite my students' vast diverse backgrounds, they are some of the most inspired workers I have ever had the pleasure of teaching. Every day, my students come in excited to work on new projects. By allowing students to experiment with the most up to date technological developments in school, it is giving them the same opportunities students in more funded districts receive.
From Kindergarten thru 8th Grade, my students are eager to take every opportunity they are given and explore new ideas.
They are natural engineers and it is truly a gift to watch them grow in their knowledge and love for using technology. In addition to learning more about technology in their world, it helps students engage more in other content areas in school. It is amazing the change in focus a student has on the same information when they are working on it on a computer vs. reading it from a worksheet.
My Project
My room is incredibly lucky to have recently received from DonorsChoose.org an iPad and cases for other iPads donated to our room and the change in my students' learning is astronomical. The new tech has allowed my students to explore the worlds of robotics, circuits, 3D printing and designing, and building video games.
Having 2 more iPads would help bring my room closer to having a small group set.
Students come to my room once or twice a week and many are exploring their own individualized projects. By having the additional iPads, student productivity would drastically increase because one student's success would not depend on another student hitting a benchmark in their project. The additional iPads would allow all students to work simultaneously and grow in their learning together.
