iPads for Students Without Home Computers

My students need 10 iPads for homework in order to access our math online components, specifically Zearn and BigBrainz, to develop their individual math skills.

My Students

Every teacher likes to think they have a great group of students, and luckily for me, my school really is made up of the most wonderful, loving families. One of my favorite parts of my job is seeing the change that my students undergo over the course of the year. I am fortunate enough to see kids develop ways to express kindness each and every day. They use manners that weren't present in August.

Our classroom is a place of learning, caring, and sharing.

I fully believe that students learn best when their needs are met. Our classroom is a place where all learning styles are valued and respected. Students feel empowered to not only recognize their own needs but are given the freedom of choice to meet those needs.

A great part is hearing students say that math is their favorite subject because that excites me. My classroom is full of faces and personalities that will impact our future world. As a teacher, I believe it is my job to do everything I can to make sure that impact will be positive.

My Project

These iPads will be used on a daily basis by students that do not have a computer at home to complete their Math, Science, Social Studies, and ELA homework and/or research science concepts being learning in class. Students need to access programs that meet students on his or her individual levels. These programs include, but are not limited to, Zearn, Big Brainz, Fossweb, Raz Kids, Study Island, and many more.

My students will be able to use these iPads at home and have many activities at their fingertips to enrich and remediate skills.

These programs assess math skills, language art standards, assess fluency, science, social studies, and prepare for the standardized tests that each child will take beginning in the third grade and continue through their educational career.

In addition, our class pet is a Camponatus ant colony. Students enjoy learning more about ants, taking pictures as our colony grows, and creating presentations to share information about ants and other insect/animal research topics.
