Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a technology teacher in an elementary school, I work with students from Pre-K to 5th grade, many of whom are on the autism spectrum. These students are amazing learners with unique strengths and needs. They thrive with hands-on, visual, and interactive tools that allow them to express themselves, stay engaged, and build independence.
I am requesting three iPads with durable protective cases to support students with autism in my classroom and throughout the school.
These iPads will be used for a variety of educational and developmental purposes, including communication apps like Proloquo2Go, learning platforms like ABCmouse and Khan Academy Kids, and emotional regulation tools such as Breathe, Think, Do with Sesame.
For many of these students, verbal communication can be difficult, and traditional classroom activities can be overwhelming. iPads provide accessible, personalized learning experiences that allow students to participate meaningfully, practice skills at their own pace, and gain confidence.
With just three iPads, we can make a significant difference in the lives of multiple students across grade levels. These tools will help students communicate, engage in learning, and manage emotions in ways that are often not possible with paper-and-pencil tasks or verbal instruction alone.
