My Students

Help a new Turnaround school get the resources we need on the South Side of Chicago!

1st grade students at Carter School of Excellence are on their way to becoming the leaders of tomorrow!

Prior to this coming school year, Carter was one of the most under-performing schools in the city of Chicago. Selected to be one of the new turnaround schools for 2013, our hope is to create a school that will provide the foundational pieces to create success for these students.

My Project

With the use of these two iPads, students in my class will be able to closely ask and answer questions in detail about key nonfiction text features. Using the apps and video features, students will be able to watch a video message carefully crafted for them. Following the video, students will be able to analyze a text and synthesize the information they read.

This project is so important to me and my students because it will allow them for that additional one-on-one instructional time during our literacy block.

This will impact my future classes to come with the longevity of this resource.
