This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a two-way immersion classroom. The majority of my students are English Language Learners. Students speak either English or Spanish. The majority of them come from different parts of Latin America. They come from diverse backgrounds, but the majority of students are from High poverty and receive free and reduced lunch. Some of them are lacking print rich environments at home. School is a safe place for them. The neighborhood is very diverse, and comprises of a variety of income levels, but the kids who attend my school are mostly low income.
My Project
Technology in the classroom is extremely important. We use iPads for math, reading, and even writing. In a class of 20, having access to an iPad can be tricky. School might be the only place where some of these students have access to this type of technology.
Having iPads in the classroom can improve my students' learning.
It is another way to have access to different resources for math and reading in particular. We use ST math, read, and listen to books in both English and Spanish, stations in both English and Spanish to name a few. All students should be able to enjoy and learn using these resources.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
