This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a teacher in a low income area of the Bronx, my students are faced with many challenges daily both in and out of the classroom. For many of them, school is their safe place and a space where they feel comfortable to be themselves.
My goal as a teacher is to provide as many inspiring and meaningful experiences as I can, while keeping things fun.
My students deserve the best education to help them reach their full potential. I believe that all children have the potential to be successful in life if they are given a fair opportunity. Children learn and grow at their own pace. As a special education teacher, I feel that education should focus on each individual's strengths, not their weaknesses.
My Project
Technology is a huge part of the world that we live in. My students need to have exposure to technology in order to help them prepare for the world outside of our classroom walls. These iPads will allow my students to broaden their horizons and learn about things that interest them without the restrictions of where they are from. Allowing these students to have access to technology will greatly help them in their future endeavors, whatever they choose to do.
Education is no longer a one size fits all model, especially not in my classroom.
As a special education teacher, it is important for me to target students' individual needs. These iPads will provide me the opportunity to help students work toward their individual learning goals at their own pace.
