My Students

I teach prekindergarten in an urban school district.

My students are all labeled by my state grant as "at risk", and come predominantly from low socioeconomic families. They often don't have as much access to technology as other children in higher socioeconomic areas may have. My preschool children are in the final year before kindergarten. In this year, they are learning about the world around them, and learn from anything and everything they do - including their use of technology. The grant that funds my program provides many materials, but there is not enough technology for everyone to get a turn every day - every child wants to use the computers, and there's just not enough time most days.

My Project

I am asking for two iPads and OtterBox cases, which will allow the children to access technology in a safe (for them and the equipment) manner. Having the access to the iPads will allow the children to learn more about technology that they will be encountering throughout their lives. The iPads will be used during free play, small group, and large group situations, as the programs allow. They will learn math skills, language/alphabet skills, independence, and many other skills.

Donating to my project will allow the children in my classroom to have greater access to technology; this access will teach them skills that they will use the rest of their lives.

Your donations will help my children gain that equal opportunity. I strive to give them the great education. Together, we can give them the dream that Steve Jobs wanted.
