This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are energetic, enthusiastic, and hardworking. They come from a low socioeconomic area of New York, and they never allow their circumstances to dictate how their days should go despite how most of their days start. This year I work with a group of students that need exposure to a more rigorous curriculum.
All of my students' access to meet the grade requirements started off shaky, but they are making gains every day.
Through project based work, they will have every opportunity to meet and exceed the requirements.
My Project
Having these iPads will increase usage time in my classroom because we currently only have outdated computers that can only be used for word processing. These iPads will allow for the students to access computer based intervention programs that will give them much needed help in achieving the Common Core goals in reading and writing. The Kindle app, once downloaded can open up a world of reading my students currently do not have access to. They will also be able to log into iReady for reading work;as well as, ESL BrainPop, ReadWorks, and Reading A-Z. iPads will be able to be used daily for small group work once reading on the other programs are complete.
