In my classroom there is a constant stream of students in and out for small groups of math and reading intervention. I currently work with kindergarten through 4th grade students. I want to quickly and accurately provide interventions to my students using apps on the iPad.
My students are eager to learn and excited to come to my class every day, which may seem odd since I am the intervention teacher and I am helping them with the subject they are struggling with.
I always try to make my lessons fun and engaging so that they want to learn, and build their knowledge. My students attend a rural, high poverty school. Many children here do not have experience with technology, or even have internet at home. I want to give them a chance to experience as many different types of technology as possible, so that they can be successful in the workplace.
My Project
Using the iPads that I am requesting the students will be able to work independently with an intervention while I am working one-on-one with a student. They will be working on reading and math apps, depending on which subject they are with me for intervention. I will also be using these devices to assess, progress, and monitor the students to chart their growth.
The students will be learning letters, letter sounds, reading, fluency, comprehension, number sense and many other important educational components to be successful.
Through your generosity of helping my students have iPads it will allow me to focus on each students individual needs for intervention.
I want my students to all feel successful at reading so that they have a great sense of pride and confidence as they move from learning to read to reading to learn.
