This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students love to explore and learn beyond text books and teacher guided instructions. Unfortunately, they have limited access to technology in their homes and at school. I would love to see my students grow as researchers and independent learners that today's modern technology can provide.

My students are third graders in East San Jose.

They eagerly wait by my door every morning to get help on homework and use one of two available computers to finish projects. They have an amazing thirst for knowledge even though many come from homes with limited resources. Our school has a population that qualifies for 100% free and reduced lunch program. Despite the fact that the majority of our students are 2nd language learners our school is a California Distinguished School. Also, we were selected by Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC) for School Beautification this year.

My Project

My students will be able to use the iPads to complete research projects, take quizzes on their leveled books, and also work on leveled activities in language arts and math during centers. These iPads will allow students to enhance their skills and provide for individualized learning experiences.

Having the 2 extra iPads in my classroom will provide my students more access to using technology for research, collaboration, communication, and creativity.

As a result, they will gain the skills needed to become leaders in their communities.
