This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember the joys of your elementary music class? All of the fun instruments you got to play and all of the great performances? My passions are music and children, and by being an elementary music teacher, I get to spread my love and joy for music with my students.
My students love using technology and are hungry to use it in the music classroom.
My elementary school is a Title I campus that serves Kindergarten through 5th grade students.
We currently have approximately 500 students and staff on our campus, but are growing daily! My school is also low socioeconomic status. Many of my students receive free and/or reduced-price lunch. Due to our socioeconomic status and other uncontrollable variables, many of our students do not have personal technology to help enhance their learning. My students are eager to learn, love music and performing. Each student gets to perform for the school and parents at least once a school year. I see my students once a week for only 45 minutes.
My Project
Music is a huge reflection of our society today. My students learn about music from the current styles all the way back to the Baroque Era. In order for my students to really develop an appreciation for music they need to see how it is made, how the sounds are put together, and be able to create it themselves. My students need two iPads to enhance their learning in my classroom. We are moving into a very digital age, and a lot of my students don't have technology at home to use. It is important for our students to learn how to use technology placed in front of them. There are endless possibilities as to how we can use the iPads. For example, we could use them in center rotations, students could record music videos and performances, music notation, rhythm and note reading, as well as various listening activities. We have also recently adopted a digital curriculum for our classroom, and there are endless supplements that we could use the iPads for.
With your generous donation to our music classroom my students will be able to learn with up-to-date technology that they might not get to use at home.
The opportunities are endless for what my students could create!
