IPads for I-Learning not Group Reciting!

My students need two iPad Airs to work on capital letters, lowercase letters and sounds.

My Students

Our school has the highest ESL population in our district. 33% of our students see English as their second language. Both parents usually work and do not speak English so there is little or no support from home for homework.

Teachers are their only English contact and the only place where they can learn academics.

Students depend on us to give them an education without help from outside sources.

School is their only learning environment in English. They depend on teachers to provide the best academic environment that they can.

My Project

With the two iPad Airs, my students can use an app that will let them only practice the letters and sounds they don't know. This means my students will be able to only practice the letters and sounds that they need work on.

So many students in my class use flashcards that have them practice the same letters over and over.

The iPad Airs will eliminate unnecessary drills that are not efficient or effective learning. Students will move from group learning to "I learning." Each student will have a tailored program that will meet their individual needs and make their time learning more efficient and more engaging. Their time will be better spent learning what they don't know instead of reviewing what they already know.
