My Students
Students must learn to work and function in a technological society. Our students advance their educations by learning about cool technologies and gaining experiences that most students must wait until college to have.
The 70 students on our FIRST robotics team are an excellent cross-section of our school.
Our high school is a suburban, Michigan school of about 1800 students. In the robotics program, we effectively serve many types of students from high achieving honors students, to high achieving special education students.
Our robotics program is in its 24th year. Our students graduate from the program, move on to the colleges of their choice and eventually end up in interesting and rewarding STEM careers. In their time with us, our students develop skills that few high school students achieve before college.
My Project
Our high school students know robots and they know how to program them! They also take their skills to our elementary schools and mentor our youngest engineers in their quest to build the best FIRST Lego Robots in the state!
This is a win-win situation!
Our elementary students get a great experience building and programming FIRST Lego League, while our high school students get the experience of teaching and mentoring younger students.
To make this happen we need new hardware. Our iPads are old and many have stopped working. New iPads will make all the difference in our program!
