Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a Title I school. Last year, 87% of our students qualified for free or reduced-price lunches. The students I work with are dyslexic. At any given time, I have 2-4 students for 30 minutes. I have these students for such a short period of time, but they work very hard during that short period of time. They want to be better readers. I could use time to work with each student separately, but do not want to give up any learning time. My school district is in the middle of rural farmland without a city or town to help support our kids. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
My Project
I teach about 30 students from 1st grade to 6th grade with dyslexia in a small rural school. At times I have multiple grade levels together. iPads would offer me the opportunity to work with students individually and monitor their progress while the others would be able to work on reading and writing apps. Our class time is so short, I do not want to lose a minute.
We do not have a town to help support our school.
There are no budgeted funds for this program. Please consider helping our students. Dyslexia is a lifetime condition. Our class helps to teach these students coping skills that will help them through college and the rest of their lives.
