Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
What child today doesn't love having technology in the palm of their hands? These iPad minis will give my students greater access to apps and the Internet to build their reading and math fluency and skills.
I have 18 very energetic and eager learners who love technology and are very motivated by it.
I teach at a Title 1 school in Florida where the majority of students are English Language Learners. The entire school receives free breakfast and lunch. I have a wide-range of abilities in my classroom spanning from 1st grade to 5th grade in both reading and math. Many of them lack basic needs such as appropriate clothing for the weather, nutritious food, a bed to sleep on, etc. Despite all of this, they come to school ready to learn and tackle the challenges of the day.
My Project
This technology would provide multiple opportunities each day to ensure the children are practicing and demonstrating skills at their "just right" level. More of my students will be able to access ST Math to work on their math skills and Lexia to work on reading fluency. In addition to those, there are many apps they can access to assist them with math and reading skills. They'll be able to create projects on the iPads that will go with our Project Based Learning we're doing in the classroom right now. They'll also do research for the projects.
This project will help them meet the 21st Century learning goals.
This project will change the lives of my students by giving them the opportunity to create various projects with technology that would not be accessible. This will engage their minds with something that is so interesting to them, technology!
