My Students
In our classroom we start with math. Math can become really "boring" especially in the morning. I start each lesson by including either technology or group work. Children learn best by interacting with each other and I make sure they learn from each other.
My students come from different backgrounds.
I have students who struggle to find food for the day, while I have some who are very blessed to have anything they want. I have students who come from military families and move a lot. These students sometimes have a hard time transitioning, but I like to make sure they are comfortable. I like to make sure that all my students feel welcome and loved when they are in my classroom no matter where they come from. I want my students to feel that no matter where they come from, we are all the same when they get to my classroom. Our school also is a very supportive school. Teachers support each other and our number one goal is making sure each student succeeds and feels loved. We make sure that in every day we have the students, they go home with excitement and motivation to go to school.
My Project
I will use the iPad in the classroom in order to incorporate technology in lessons. The iPad would be helpful for students to work in groups and use the iPad as a learning device to practice math concepts. There are several apps that encourages and reinforces math. By using an iPad, the students are learning as they have fun.
The laptop is a great tool for research. In my classroom, there are only two computers to share between 23 students. Adding a laptop would be great because students would have an additional device to research projects for science. Recently, we did a project on the ecosystem and students were to look up information about each ecosystem such us climate and living species in that area. Not all students were able to get on a computer due to not having enough in the classroom.
This project will improve my classroom because it will generate more learning while students are having fun.
Students will be able to share more ideas as they learn from apps that involves new concepts. Not only are they learning new math and science concepts, they are also learning the use of new technology.
