Hello, I am a Kindergarten NEST teacher and I am looking to provide iPads for my students for center work activities. I have specific apps in mind such as Letter School and ABC Mouse. The iPads can also be used for apps and programs that our school has paid for and provided our classroom access to. While the iPads will be available for all students, my main focus will be for students with disabilities and also English language learners in the classroom.
This school year, we have had an influx of migrants in my classroom who need extra one-on-one assistance.
Many of the students do not speak English which makes language and communication a challenge between the student and teacher and vice versa. By having iPads available in the classroom, students can work in the language that is familiar to them. The goal of this project is to provide supplemental apps and activities that will give students with disabilities and English language learners a sense of belonging and a sense of success. My co-teacher and I love to see our students thriving and be comfortable in their classroom environment.
