This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This is my third year of teaching. My school is a Title I school located in Queens. All my children receive free breakfast and lunch.
This year has been a challenging one meeting the needs of all of my ICT students.
Having 12 special ed. students this year has been a difficult, but enjoyable challenge to see these children grow. We have a very diverse population of students at the school.
Fifty percent of my students are ELLs who all come from different backgrounds. Also, thirty percent are below grade level in reading. Even though my pupils face either speaking, writing or reading challenges, they are still trying every day to achieve their academic goals.
My Project
My fourth grade students love using technology to gain new information as well as master skills in their academics. If my students receive the iPads, they will be able to use MyLexia, Raz Kids, Brain Pop, Prodigy, Moby Max, and so many more educational websites. Every day my students are trying to gain access to the three classroom computers we have to play educational Math games, do research on our current reading unit Rainforest, or listen to music to help the students create poems.
Not only will the iPads let students access all of these lovely websites, but they will also make learning fun for them!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
