Differentiated learning is the key to student success. In order to meet the individual needs of students we need tools that can be utilized in variety of ways.
The students in my first grade class are energetic and excited to learn, but need to be engaged in different ways.
We have limited access to individual technology in the classroom and need an outlet to allow students to practice their skills at an independent level. They are visual and auditory learners and respond well to hands-on activities.
My Project
Students in my class will be using these iPads during our guided math and literacy groups. During our guided math groups students would be able to practice basic math skills and facts and also engage in dynamic and adaptive math games.
During our Daily 5 literacy block the students will be using them to 'Listen to Reading'. They will listen to stories being read aloud to them while they follow along with printed words. This allows a place for students to hear fluent and consistent reading.
Having iPads in the classroom will foster a love of learning and give them a better appreciation for technology.
Regular use of these iPads will allow students to practice critical skills in a non-threatening and independent way.
