This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Come celebrate Autism Awareness Month with me! My students are completely engaged and fascinated with technology! Help us go apes for apps with iPads.
I am privileged to teach 4th and 5th grade students with multiple disabilities in a self-contained classroom.
Our school is located in a low-income area with a majority of second language learners. My students are greatly challenged when attempting to access grade level curriculum. Many struggle to retain concepts and therefore perform far below grade level. While they are eager to learn new things, they need additional supports to access the core curriculum and meet grade level standards.
My Project
I am requesting two iPads to use during independent work time. They will provide differentiated instruction for my students with special needs using educational apps to support their learning. The iPad2 has unlimited educational applications and provides wonderful visuals that motivate students. I use independent work time to give my students opportunities to gain independent learning skills, while allowing me time to work with small groups. The iPads will keep them engaged and help them learn more independently. They will also gain additional exposure to current technology.
Students with Autism and other disabilities need additional resources to help them learn and retain concepts.
The iPads will provide opportunities for differentiated instruction and independent learning skills. My students will be able to use various apps to scaffold their learning and reteach difficult concepts in a fun and engaging manner. Thank you for supporting my class and their learning.
