Teacher Professional Development: I need an iPad2 with WiFi for professional development. <profdevpilot>
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Engelman's classroom raised $947
This project is fully funded
My Students
I need an iPad2 for professional development. I need it to develop my understanding of Common Core.
I teach fourth grade in a Title 1 school.
I need to learn for professional development, Common Core literacy and math standards. I also need to learn how these standards impact my science and social studies instruction. This will enhance student learning.
My Project
I will use the iPad2 for professional development. I will use it to help expand my knowledge of Common Core standards. I will then in turn use this knowledge in planning appropriate lesson plans that will foster my students' learning of the new standards. Courses and programs I plan on taking include the LAUSD History/Social Studies Cohort, which plans on "looking at lessons that integrate CCSS Literacy standards and History/Social Studies standards." Also, I am registered for the LAUSD Science Cohort, which plans on similar trainings focusing on CCSS Science Standards. Finally, I plan on participating in professional development opportunities outside of the Los Angeles Unified School district, such as the History/Social Studies Teacher Academy at the Autry National Center for Western Heritage. By having access to an iPad, I will have access to invaluable online resources to augment my learning at these and other future opportunities.
This will make a difference because I will be better able to participate in Common Core professional development.
I will learn strategies and skills that I will be able to turn around and use in my classroom.
