This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a diverse, Title I school in Phoenix, AZ. Many of my students come to school without the basic supplies needed to complete work though out the day. The parents of my students work hard to provide for their children, but many of them fall short financially after taking care of the bare necessities. I do everything in my power to provide what I can for my class.

Every day in my classroom is a chance for students to productively struggle and break free from their comfort zone, which is necessary for them to achieve growth and accomplish things they could never have imagined possible.

Watching this process occur reminds me why I became a teacher.

My students live and breathe data. They pre-test, post-test and everything in between. As a teacher, I work to help each student achieve their personal goals, both academically and at home, measuring their progress every step of the way.

My incredible group of students practice "Kids at Hope," a philosophy that promotes the idea that each student is capable of learning and achieving great things. With the proper tool and supplies, I know my class can exemplify that philosophy.

My Project

My students are lucky enough to have one-to-one technology in the classroom. Providing students with keyboards and headphones will give them additional opportunities to have technology integrated into their lessons.

These tools that I've requested will have a huge impact in my classroom!

This technology will provide additional opportunities for my students to gain the technology skills required for them to be ready for college and careers.

My students are required to type essays on their iPads. By providing them with keyboards, it will make the process much easier and students will gain practice typing on a keyboard. The headphones allow for individualized instruction and differentiation. Students are able to watch videos about content to gain additional practice. The headphones also allow my English Language Learners to have text-to-speech to help them better understand the content.
