Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My ESL students have faced enormous challenges and demonstrated remarkable perseverance through the pandemic and now we are all back in school. My students are some of the most resilient people I have ever met. Many of them have fled their home country because of violence, political corruption, and poverty. All my students are English language learners and some have experienced interrupted education. However, they do not let their current or past struggles get in the way of pursuing a better future for themselves and their families. My students invest time in their education. They stay after school, come to school on Saturdays, and even come in the summer just so they can catch up to the rest of their peers.
My Project
Since the beginning of virtual learning, educators have incorporated dozens of new apps and websites in the curriculum. These tools are a great way to implement innovative strategies to engage students, and kindle in them the desire to learn.
An iPad is an excellent classroom tool; it can be used to project notes, manage apps such as Class Dojo, Teams, and BrainPOP!
Speaking apps, such as Lingt, which are integral to ESL practice, are easily conducted through an iPad.
Having an iPad would greatly increase my efficacy as an educator; it is a portable way to manage apps, communicate with parents, and engage my students.
