I teach an amazing group of third graders in Los Angeles. My school is a higher poverty level but there is no limit on learning with the right resources. We are a great multicultural family that loves to learn. Many of my students speak another language other than English at home. All students receive free breakfast, and over 35% receive free or reduced-price lunch.
Our school loves using technology, but we don't have enough computers and/or iPads in our classroom.
This year our class is focused on learning how to research and type essays on computers.
My Project
My students love to learn and do research online, but we only have two very slow laptops in our classroom. In California, third grade is the first year that students must take the State Exams-and they are all online! Students need time and resources to practice using computers/iPad and being able to type essays on demand.
I have requested an iPad Mini with a keyboard so my students can have a great iPad to do research on and practice typing essays on it too.
