iPad to Boost Fifth Grade Learning!

My students need access to new Apple iPad technology to bring their learning into the 21st century!

My Students

Help us bring our learning to life! An iPad will allow me to engage my fifth grade students in ways that regular computers cannot. With the help of an iPad, we will be able to utilize a wide variety of learning Apps that will help to prepare us for higher achievement!

My students attend a high poverty elementary school in one of Maryland's highest need school districts.

Many of these students come from homes that, for a variety of reasons, are unable to support students' development in core concepts like reading, writing, mathematics and technology. Our class is very large (30 students), and our classroom is very small. Thanks to DonorsChoose.org, we currently have access to five student computers in our classroom, which was a great start for us in learning about technology! With your help, we can add an Apple iPad to our classroom to help students learn in more and different ways. Nothing excites my students like new technology, and I know that the addition of an iPad to our classroom will engage my students in ways that more traditional materials and teaching strategies cannot.

My Project

With access to an Apple iPad in our classroom, my fifth grade students will be able to gain valuable hands-on experience with cutting edge technology. Because we can use wifi technology with an iPad, we will be able to access educational resources that our school computers block, and I will be able to provide my students with access to learning applications that will help to boost their reading and thinking skills. Because I already have access to an LCD projector and SmartBoard in the classroom, I will also be able to utilize the iPad with those other components in order to do more with what we already have. I am excited to share learning Apps with my students on the "big screen" (with our projector) and to allow students to use the iPad to create photographs and videos documenting our learning. Your donation of any size can help my students grow!

Access to an iPad in the classroom will allow my amazing fifth graders to learn with cutting edge technology.

My students are largely kinesthetic learners, meaning hands-on experience is what best helps them learn. Being able to directly interact with an iPad via the touch screen will engage them in ways other materials cannot. Additionally, having access to the iPad will allow me to make greater use of the technology and resources we already have in the classroom, boosting student learning!
