My Students

My students are a sweet group of firsties who come from many different countries including Africa, Palestine, Iraq, Brazil, China, Japan, the Congo, Spain and the Dominican Republic.
They are an excited and eager bunch! A portion of my students qualify for refugee status and coming to America has been exciting and overwhelming as they adapt and learn the language and customs. Many are first generation English speakers.
My Project
My students need one iPad with an OtterBox to encourage Language acquisition and practice,
in the classroom.
My ESL students will use the iPad to practice the English language using various apps. Such apps include Starfall, Endless Reader and Endless Alphabet, Read To Me Stories, and Brainpop ESL. Not only will an iPad provide individual practice in the English language, but it will also give my students the opportunity to use technology, which would not be available to them otherwise. Students will be able to peer tutor and peer teach and provide a safe environment for my ESL students to learn and grow.
