My Project
I have a very excitable group of fourth graders who aren’t afraid to make mistakes. They have learned to become risk-takers this year, because we learn through mistakes. We’ve learned that our actions have positive consequences and negative consequences.
My students have learned that even though they come from different backgrounds and experiences, we are still family.
They learn best through hands-on learning. My students rarely miss school because they truly love learning. They are like sponges and are constantly wanting more. My fourth graders are at different learning levels. Some need reteaching of a skill, while others need the extra encouragement for enrichment.
I have been blessed to give my students the opportunity to put technology right into their fingertips. We use the Apple iPad as a wonderful resource filled with lots of apps to help build math fluency and reading comprehension for a student, as well as apps for ADHD students. There are apps that we can use that can help track their attention and keep them engaged for longer periods of time.
I use centers as part of my guided math and guided reading.
This helps me teach skills based on the student's academic ability in smaller groups. During our rotations, students would be able to rotate through this station to work on engaging and differentiated lessons in both math and reading.
Adding these Otterbox cases to help protect the ipads to our learning rotations will allow me to reach different modalities of learners in my classroom. Not all students learn effectively sitting in a chair with paper and pencil. The use of the iPad will help me reach those who seem to get frustrated, as this could be a different way to learn for them.
