In my first grade classroom, we continually explore, inquire, communicate, collaborate, experiment, practice, create and grow! The first grade world is a busy one and these lives change immensely in this first year of grade school.
These students are first graders in Carlsbad, California and I am so proud to be a part of their foundation and help inspire our future in these great little minds!
They are all so excited to learn each day and give their best in our classroom community, as well as in the strong school wide community we have built.
My Project
In my first grade classroom there is a lot of reading, writing, mathematical problem solving, social studies, art, PE, music, and science to just name part of our curriculum! We are a diverse group of 6 to 7 year olds coming from all sorts of backgrounds, cultures, and educational experience.
I empower their diversities and differentiate to their needs.
This is why we need five iPads in our classroom. Using an iPad my students can work at all different levels, supporting their specific needs. Our world is now technologically driven and children are preparing for jobs that we don't even know will exist!
One teacher can teach whole group and break into small groups for differentiated needs. I want to provide experiences that the students can be engaged in, not busy work! I will use iPads to promote team building with group projects as well as one-on-one ipad to child for specific skill building. This will allow me to support students who need RTI as well as providing activities for those who need to rise above and expand on the curriculum being presented. Technology is a great way to build confidence and prepare my littles for their path forward as creators, inventors, authors, artists, and anything else their little hearts can imagine.
