Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are three to five years old with disabilities that love learning and exploring their environment. They love arts and crafts, technology (all the time), singing, dancing, and all-around fun and engaging activities to partake in. My classroom is full of busy bees, along with my co-teacher, as my program is a collaborative program.
Collaborating with a general education teacher and her students enables my kiddos to have the much-needed peer modeling they need.
Not only do we have 10 special needs students but 14 general education students to work with as a team! This benefits my students on so many levels.
Live lessons have been difficult as the laptop I'm currently using is too large for students to hold as an iPad. This iPad will be used in small group instruction, and students will be able to use it for fun and interactive activities. I use a laptop but students are not able to navigate it like with an iPad. My students love technology and know how to navigate an iPad at home and would love to bring it into our classroom.
I am asking for an iPad so I can work with my kiddos which will enable them to better understand, follow, and interact with their teacher and peers. I want to be able to provide more lessons and more interactive activities that we can engage in as a class. With more language-based activities students will continue to expand their verbal skills, attention to task, and social skills.
