My Students
Do you remember what it was like to learn to read and write? My ESL friendly classroom needs any extra help they can get to learn the English language a little faster.
I have 30 energetic seven-year-old children in my second grade classroom.
I work for a School District in Pennsylvania who has a very small budget given to every school. My reading levels range from kindergarten to fifth grade. It's important that I read with the students every day in order to get them on grade level by the end of the year. This is very difficult, especially with the high number of students in our classes. Many of my students get free or reduced lunch. These second graders are the hardest working class that I have worked with. They truly enjoy being in school and love to help others. We do not have the updated technology to keep up with the twenty-first century.
My Project
With this new iPad my students will be able to practice how to become better readers and writers. My struggling students who face challenges with the English language will be able to practice how to read and repeat words that they are having problems with. They will also be able to match pictures with words to have visuals. Finally, they will also be tested every couple weeks to see what skills that they are still not getting. This way the teacher can review these as well.
This iPad will help my second graders become better readers and writers.
Your donation will make a huge impact on our students' education and lives. Technology is only growing and expanding. We need to keep pace with its growth so our students can be competitive with all surrounding school district. Thank you for your time and I hope you consider funding our project.
