Help me give my students a set of 5 iPad minis to replace old and out dated equipment to support math and literacy instruction, small group experiences, and the creation of innovative projects.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are exciting, little 5 year olds entering kinder ready to engage and tackle a world of knowledge and learning through the new age of technology. They are challenged little individuals that already come with many struggles from home. Most of these kinder students come from a variety of backgrounds that consists of low economically disadvantaged homes, socially, and emotionally challenged, with special needs, homeless, and limited to access of resources outside the classroom. This new school year we will be initiating a New Tech Elementary Program. Our school has begun to make a transition to new Promethium Boards but still lacks a serious upgrade to our outdated technology equipment.
My students need new mini iPads to utilize during math and literacy activities and small group instruction with apps that will enhance reading comprehension, math skills, and project based activities.
Struggling with outdated technology that does not meet my students needs is always frustrating. Students are constantly dealing with charging issues, apps not working properly, sharing or waiting their turn to utilize computers that are becoming limited in their use during their work stations. An upgrade of Mini iPads would be beneficial!
My Project
My kinder students will be utilizing the mini iPads to assist them with a basis for technology awareness and uses in: reading comprehension, phonics skills, ebooks, math skills, school assessments, phonemic awareness activities, independent readers, dictionaries, projects and small group instruction. These mini iPads would be utilized on a daily basis providing access to interactive literacy/math workstations, seeking information, documenting, recording and creating projects for group work, and reading texts or listening to stories online. The mini iPads will also be used with specific apps geared for reading and math intervention activities allowing more students to have access directly from our classroom.
I am always looking for innovative ways to incorporate mini iPads and technology with learning in today's world of future technology needs.
My students love iPads and technology and are always engaged when they get their hands on them. With the varied apps and capabilities these mini iPads can have, all students can benefit from them to best suit their needs in all subjects. It also gives me an opportunity to select what apps or resources are best needed for them as well.
