My students need iPad mini 2s to help them keep up with the common core standards in ways that address their special needs.

My Students
I have a classroom of many children with special needs who require modifications to the curriculum to help them achieve success academically. The features offered by Apple allows for my students to sync lessons and work on homework in non-traditional ways but which work for their specific need
We are a 4th grade ICT classroom where 40% of the kids have IEPs and require drastic alterations to some of our lesson plans so that they do not fall behind.
A student from another country entered our class in October who speaks very little English and a child from the Middle East who hasn't received education in the New York City public school system since second grade returned to the U.S. about two weeks ago. Between the amount of English-language learners in our class and the amount of children with special needs, iPads could go a long way in our classroom. From using different apps to reinforce letter sounds and letter recognition to apps that could provide them basic math skills through a more visual media, I feel our students could greatly benefit from an iPad Mini 2.
My Project
My students need an iPad mini 2 to help them keep up with the common core standards in ways that address their special needs. The iPad Mini 2 will allow more of these kids to learn and keep up with the lessons due to the features it has. For example, it has voice recording features that allow the students in my class who have difficulty writing to speak their ideas both at home and in the classroom and it will write it for them. There are also two types of keyboards to help those same children type their words or thoughts. Some of the memory apps allow these children to remember things by inserting visuals and helping them keep track of their personal and academic goals. There are also features or apps that allow me to record lessons and students who cannot take notes quickly or retain information are able to listen to the lesson repeatedly to get the information they need.
iPad minis in our classroom would play huge role in the education of our students.
With the variety of learners in our classroom and the different paces for each individual child, whether they are visual learners auditory learners or kinesthetic learners, the entire class would benefit one way or another. iPads will help our students develop new skills and access new learning methods. This will allow students to routinely explore all that technology has to offer!
