My students need access to technology, with a new iPad, for learning new skills. Most of the population that I serve do not have access to any technology outside of the school environment.
My students face social and economic challenges. They are all diagnosed with Autism Spectrum disorders and most have little to no access to technology. Having an iPad to use with my students would revolutionize they way they learn new skills. There are specific apps just for students with Autism.
My students range from self-contained to general education and are on the high school or post high level.
We are in a high-poverty school district and my students face many socio-economic struggles. My students would benefit from exposure and the use of technology as a learning tool.
My Project
Having an iPad will inspire learning for communication and socialization. There are specific apps tailored to students with Autism that teach social skills and communication. These apps will help my students to interact more successfully with their same age peers. They will be able to use technology and have access to resources that they would not typically have outside of the school environment.
This project is extremely important for my students success.
This will allow a level of learning that they will gain visually through the use of technology that I can't provide them any other way. Students with Autism respond much more consistently when using technology.
